clearance and away toward Papua

tidying up our lines
Emma , with her finger on the pulse, steering down the river.

True to their word ,Customs was on our boat at 0600 hrs and cleared us efficiently and courteously. We departed the Gateway Marina at 0845hrs with Karin taking us off the wharf and setting us underway.

We have done a seatrial calibration of the steering and are now romping along at 5knots across Moreton Bay, next stop toward Papua.

Can't expect to get any more reception in an hour or so , so cheers everyone from Al,Karin and Emma.

  1. Hallo , I hope you doing fine. How about our Emma? Be careful now and take care. We are a little bit worry about this sailing but we also hope that it gonna be a big experience for the girls. Best wishes Lena and Alf

  2. Hello Al, Karin and Emma! Hope you're somewhere far more exotic when this reaches you. Congratulations on getting away; truly that is the hardest part of any cruise. There has been some wind on the QLD coast. I hope this has treated you kindly and found all your new systems in order. I can't wait to hear of your many adventures!

I leave next week for Port Vila to pick up my new commission. We will sail slowly up through Vanuatu and the Solomons, carrying out our reef conservation programs along the way. Depending on our progress, we may end up in PNG by October. We need to get the boat back to NZ before the cyclone season though. Our organisation has another boat running ahead of us; a 54' Hanse called Moksha. She's lurid orange, hard to miss. If you see them in your travels, be sure to stop by and say hello.

Fair winds and following seas, my friends. I hope we all catch up soon.

    David Fisher.
