I was beginning to think that days like this were part of some imaginary past that I have lived. The Sun has been out all day and the wind has calmed off to a mere zephyr. Yes of course I worked on a few projects on the boat but it was pleasant and I achieved. I repaired a small leak in my inflatable dinghy and put both dinghies in the water with their respective outboards on them. Both outboards started first pull after some weeks of being stored, drowned and generally abused. I did put a new spark plug in the 2 h.p. Early this morning a more protected spot was vacated and I quickly moved "Zen" into it. I decided to have another look at the non functioning v.h.f. radio and discovered a small area of corrosion. I cleaned this and the v.h.f. has come back to life. I have the hand held v.h.f. as a backup and it is handy to have in the cockpit for immediate ship to ship contact. I did a few more jobs and then decided to gear up and dive over the side and work out if the rudders can be made more efficient. The water was clear and not too cold and I was in only about 2 metres depth. After untying the rudders and lowering them into position I am sure that if I drill a new pivot hole in each of them I can change the angle enough to get them to perform better. I unbolted both rudders and they are now on deck drying out and that will be my task tomorrow. I may then go for a "fun sail" on Monday to test them. It is a lot better knowing that I don't have a timetable to stick to or people to look after. As much as I enjoyed Karin and Emma's company, their lack of manners in leaving the boat and going off without the courtesy of saying goodbye has dissapointed me immensly. Hopefully the Karmic debt that they are both running up will not catch up to them all at once. Enough of that.
The full moon has risen over G.K.I. there is a gentle swell and zero breeze. I could get used to this. Love to you all.
