The run toward Keppel has been interesting. Some care was taken to ensure that we cleared the small cays in our way and then "Zen" was freed up and the tiller was not touched for hours at a time as we cruised at speeds up to 10 knots. As daylight broke we were just approaching Barren Island and the Child. We cleared these islands and made our way to Keppel and anchored off the Resort, close to the shore to escape the wind, clean sand, calm water.
We rang Customs and they arranged to meet us at Keppel Bay marina at 1300 hrs so we up anchored and motorsailed over to the Marina. We arrived at 13.30 hrs and cleared through Customs, the experience again convivial and friendly.
An assessment of the damage has vindicated our decision to head for safety and so now begins the cleanup, starting with ourselves. As the girls cabin is a wet mess they have been offered a bunk on a nearby motor boat. I finally got an opportunity to check out my cabin and have heaps of damge from water ingress as well as not having a single dry item of clothing or bedding to my name.
